Malibu Seafood Fresh Fish Market and Patio Café |
Buzz Magazine "Best Dive" 1998"After the beach, trek to MALIBU SEAFOOD for the freshest catch on the coast. Order at the counter, then relax at the picnic-style patio tables while you wait for your number to come up. The steamed mussels are fantastic, grilled catfish is spectacular, and steamed lobsters are fabulous. It's BYOB, so tote a bottle of wine and enjoy a picnic at the tables." |
Weekend Breakaway - United Airlines Hemispheres Magazine"White coastal fogs often pool in the jade-colored valleys, and Topanga's saw-toothed western mountain ranges frame the cerulean sky with cinematic beauty... hikers and bikers may prefer to watch the sunset and dine alfresco at the wood-planked tables of Malibu Seafood. Here you can inhale a fresh mahi-mahi sandwich while gazing at the Pacific. Go ahead, eat with your hands. They'll give you extra napkins... This isn't business; this is pleasure." |
Food and Wine - hometown haunts - June 1999"...Five favorite (LA) places...Malibu Seafood - Little more than a roadside stand with picnic tables and an ocean view, for outstanding ahi tuna burgers, steamed crab, and fried scallops." |
New Times LA - June 2000 - Dish
“…I
drove down to Malibu Seafood, a fresh fish market with informal patio
seating. You order and pay, wait for your number to be called, and take
your tray to one of the picnic tables; one space has a view of the
Pacific across the Pacific Coast Highway, another is trellised with
flowering plants. Everybody around me was ordering fried sandwiches
(fish, scallops, shrimp, squid, oysters) or ahi burgers; I felt too
self-conscious to order lobster, so I got grilled salmon with rice and
cole slaw and a half-pound of freshly boiled shrimp. I took my food to a
view table. And I was in bliss. This was the real thing. Cheap, fresh,
good. I felt myself relax for the first time all week. Everybody around
me was vocally enjoying their food -- fish tacos, fish and chips, and --
damn! -- the guy next to me had a beauty of a lobster.” - Meredith
